Proving Myself

I just upgraded this server several major distro versions in a row, so hopefully nothing’s too broken…

I also took the opportunity to tighten up some of the security, and in particular e-mail. It’s kinda weird to be running your own local e-mail server nowadays, and it feels a bit too fragile to use it for anything really important, but it’s nice to have a contact point that’s not thoroughly controlled by Google or Microsoft or whoever, and I may as well do it right.

So, now it should be using TLS to encrypt all outbound mail connections, and DKIM signing is set up and a DMARC policy set. Not that I send a lot of e-mails from here, but this should help prove that e-mails from this domain really are legit, and spammers won’t be able to forge addresses from this domain.

It kind of sucks having to SSH into here every time I want to send an e-mail from this domain though, so now do I want to run the risk of running an IMAP server so I can manage e-mail remotely…
